TEAM Mentor | Erie Neighborhood House
I volunteer weekly as a mentor for a 14 year old high school student in an after school program called TEAM (Tutoring to Educate for Aims and Motivation) at the Erie Neighborhood House. TEAM is an after school mentorship program for at risk youth, ages 12-18.
TEAM statistics:
100%: graduated from high school
95%: Juniors and Seniros who participated in college/job readiness programs
88%: youth who maintained their GPA
93%: youth who participated in community service activities

Community Service Liaison

Community Service Liaison | DePaul's University Ministry
I oversaw six community service organizations under the umbrella of DePaul University Ministry’s Community Service Association. I worked with service coordinators, site directors, University Ministry staff, and student volunteers to ensure the growth and wellbeing of the six volunteer organizations. I also lead weekly service reflections grounded in the mission of St. Vincent DePaul.
This leadership position has taught me how to time manage, communicate effectively, be assertive, and delegate tasks.

Immersion Leader

Service Immersion Leader | Bogotá, Colombia
I led a group of thirteen students on a service trip to Bogotá where we met several community leaders and learned about the reality of Colombia’s marginalized. I also prepared pre- and post-trip meetings to engage students in reflective practices. Service immersions are arranged through DePaul’s University Ministry.
This leadership role has challenged me to lern about another country's complex reality and effectively reflect with students about their experience. I also learned how to manage the logistics involved in an international service trip and use my team as a resource.

ESL Tutor | Achieving Immigrant Rights and Equality
I was an English as a Second Language tutor for four years at the Erie Neighborhood House, located in Chicago’s Mexican-American neighborhood, Little Village. AIRE (Achieving Immigrant Rights and Equality) is a volunteer organization in DePaul University’s Community Service Association.
This volunteer experience has taught me about the realities of the immigrant community. It has also improved my communication and teaching skills.

Volunteer Coordinator | St. Vincent de Paul Society Center
I led a group of volunteers to perform weekly service at the St. Vincent de Paul Society Center where we tutored underprivileged children. I also led volunteers in reflection about service. Service at the St. Vincent de Paul Society Center is conducted through DePaul University’s Community Service Association.
This leadership position has taught me how to constructively collaborate with others. I also improved my organizational and outreach skills.
